Human Design + Couples = SparklyAF Magic

Over the past few weeks, Pete and I have learned a lot about the designs our souls chose for us. When we’re operating in a way that’s energetically correct for us, we make for good company. On the other hand, when we’re operating in a way that’s energetically incorrect for us, it's less fun to be around us.

Pete has an open root, which means he’s designed to flow through life in his own timing, free from pressures and deadlines. When he asks me to do something from a place of pressure and deadlines, his energy triggers me. For instance, if he's cooking dinner for us because I'm on a client call, but it's taking him longer than he expects, he starts operating out of a place of pressure. He starts hurrying to try to get the cooking done faster. In so doing, his energy gets all stress-y and icky and it ends up overshadowing the awesome fact that he's cooking dinner for us.

I have an open Ajna, which means I’m not designed to hold onto any opinions tightly. Instead, I’m designed to embrace the empowerment of owning that “I don’t know.” When I engage with Pete's defined Ajna, say in a discussion about a pretty bird in the sky, I can get pulled in to sharing and defending an opinion that may not even be mine. I enjoy connecting with my husband and I'm curious by nature, but a conversation about what the bird eats and what it’s migration pattern might be is a recipe for entering into a debate or exchange of hypotheses. That's not energetically right for me, and Pete feels the gross energy.

We’re both working toward living our designs 24/7. This will be a lifelong project for both of us and it’s so helpful to do this together. It’s so helpful to have a partner who sees us as humans and as souls who selected a powerful design. And when those two things diverge, it’s so helpful to have a partner who can lovingly remind us to come back to our design.
