Activate Your Joy
Yesterday was tough. We dropped Makai off for surgery first thing in the morning and didn't hear anything until late afternoon. (He's home now and recovering, and we're happy to have our pack back together again.)
If you're new here, meet Makai.
He's my soul dog. He's a 14-year-old golden retriever, red bone coonhound, Leonberger (and maybe more) mix. This is not our first life together and I love him very much.
The house felt empty without him. I missed him. I worried about him. AND the whole time I was missing him and worrying about him, joy was sitting right next to me. Joy is always there. It's not a friend or a roommate. Like Makai, joy is my soulmate. It is my natural state.
And still, it requires practice.
2020 has been intense. You may be out of joy practice.
And that's okay. In fact, it's why Tina and I created Sparking Joy: A 13-day adventure to help you re-ignite your joy.
For 13 days, you'll wake up to an email with an easy, nourishing joy practice. By actively practicing joy we remind every cell in our body and every aspect of our being who we truly are.
Who we are is JOY. Joy is there when we are filled with glee. And it's there when we're filled with grief. It is our natural state. And with practice, it is always with us, next to us, hugging us, and leading us.
Sparking Joy is a 13-day online advent calendar, because there is nothing more fun and magical than waking up each morning to a new adventure.
The definition of advent is "the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event." Well, guess what? That notable person, thing, and event is: YOUR JOY!!!
We don't believe that advent calendars are only for religious occasions. We believe they are for anyone at any time because they're magical vehicles for adventures of wonder, play, and surprises!
As you'll see, we had so much fun creating this and we're so excited to share these joy practices with you.
