Meditate
I was diagnosed with ADHD in college. It made sense. I had trouble sitting still, I bounced around from thing to thing to thing (both physically and mentally) and I definitely seemed to experience the world differently than other people.
I took on the belief that all of these things made for a "disorder." I came to believe that not being able to sit still was "bad," and that experiencing the world differently was a "problem."
For years, I took medication to help me sit still and focus, to help me look like a "normal person."
And then I stopped.
I don't know years, but this was probably around 2014. It was part of the awakening that started in 2012 and called me into professional coaching. It was part of my soul calling me into alignment through healing injuries and illness, coaching, meditation, eating a plant-based diet (round one) and listening to my intuition.
It was part of the path that eventually led me to Human Design. And it was in my Human Design that I again saw my ADHD. It wasn't a "problem" at all, and it certainly wasn't "bad." Instead of labeling ADHD as a "disorder," I saw it as the sacred gift that it is. I see my ADHD in my MG-ness and my open ajna and my top-left arrow and my gates 5 and 43. It is a beautiful gift that my soul chose just for me. It is part of the mosaic that my soul selected so that I could change the world in my own unique way.
Every single one of us is perfectly designed. Every single one of us is blessed with loads of gifts. Every single one of us is here to raise the world by owning and sharing our unique gifts.
And guess what: I can sit still and focus if I want to.
What's my secret? Meditation. I haven't missed a day of meditation in more than 2,000 days. It is a daily non-negotiable for me now, but finding my groove in this practice was not easy. I started and stopped again and again. I took meditation classes. I used apps. I did all the things. And still, starting was hard.
I want it to be easy for you.
So, I've been dropping bonus meditations in The Find Your Awesome Podcast.
