rebirth
I've been going through a bit of a rebirth. On the surface, it looked and felt like an upper respiratory dis-ease, but it's been a deep embodiment of things I once knew only intellectually.
Here are a few of the lessons I've been embodying:
1. Don't rip open the cocoon. We are given periods of pause for a reason. We can kick and scream and shake our fists at the universe, but it's not going to change anything. Transformation takes time. The caterpillar in the cocoon is going through a whole process of un-becoming a caterpillar and becoming a butterfly. If it were to rip open the cocoon when it got tired of waiting, it wouldn't yet have the wings it needs to be a butterfly. It's worth waiting for our wings. We'll know when it's time to emerge.
2. Stop trying to control the universe. We experience true freedom when we recognize that trying to control the universe is only wearing us out. When we relax and release and allow the universe to work through us, we experience true abundance.
3. Commit to healing. If your Human Design profile is 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, or 4/6 you are here to commit to your own healing. By healing yourself, you will heal others. Our job is literally to stay in our own lane, live our own lives and commit to our own healing. This is how we heal the world.
In the midst of all this, I've been reading, moving and clearing tons of energy. Here's a little peek behind the scenes:
READING: Three Wishes and Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty. There are no profound lessons in these books--just fun stories with happy endings. I've also been re-reading the four books in David Michie's The Dalai Lama's Cat series, as well as Outrageous Openness and It's Not Your Money, both by Tosha Silver. I've decided that re-reading these six books will be an annual practice.
MOVING: I'm still swimming, biking, running, strength training and walking. I've been deeply (maybe even desperately) craving walks in nature lately. The urgency with which I crave my daily walks is like the urgency with which I've run to a restroom after being stuck in traffic for hours while needing to pee.
LISTENING TO: Binaural beats. I was almost dependent on binaural beats for sinus relief for a few weeks. Now, I'm loving binaural beats for deep healing sleep. On a completely different note, I am in love with Rowan Mangan's laugh, especially after the story she tells 45 minutes into this podcast. You're welcome.
CLEARING: So much stuff has been coming up to be released over the last eight weeks. I'd share it with you if I remembered it, but it's been releasing so quickly that I haven't even been able to recall it an hour later. On a physical level, I've cleared out clothes, books, notebooks and other stuff that just doesn't resonate with me. I recently found a whole pile of business cards from an event that didn't resonate with me and, in releasing those cards, I found a gift card to one of my favorite stores.
