the universe knocked me on my booty

Whew! The past two weeks have certainly been something.

Without permission from my human self, the universe pressed pause on me. I felt so rotten that I thought I had COVID. I didn't, but the universe had definitely knocked me on my booty. And from that place of frustration, surrender and coughing, I fell deeper into my Human Design experiment, coming away with two big lessons:

1. Listen to the whispers.

When I thought I might have COVID, I wondered where I could have gotten it. Immediately, I remembered the puppies. A few weeks ago, we had gotten a last-minute invitation to play with some 7-week-old puppies (and the humans that lived with them).

My brain said: PUPPIES
My body whispered: meh
My brain screamed: PUPPIES!!!
My body whispered: another time

I listened to my brain (because PUPPIES) and of course it was nice to meet the puppies, but it wasn't absolutely positively sparkly and magical. What would have happened if I listened to the whisper in my body? Obviously, I have no idea, but I do know that we met a puppy a couple days ago and it was a super sparkly and amazing experience so it's not like puppies no longer light me up.

95% of us are designed to make decisions with our bodies. Often, our bodies scream, "HOLY HELL YES" or "NO!" We might feel electrified or disgusted by an opportunity. Other times, we hear a gentle whisper or feel a quiet knowing that something is for us or not for us. All of these messages are sacred. Listen to the whispers.

2. It's safe to ask for time.

We live in a society that expects speedy responses. With texting, Amazon Prime and streaming services, we aren't used to waiting for what we want. For many of us (70% of the population), the mental pressure to respond immediately can be intense.

Intellectually, I know that it's okay to take a beat before responding. I know that it's best to wait 24-hours before committing to a decision (especially if you have Emotional Authority). And I know that my response is worth waiting for. I also know that I'm often relieved when someone doesn't respond to me immediately.

This un-planned pause invited me to embody that knowing. I found myself asking for time (or simply taking my time) from a place of empowered, grounded truth.

Okay, okay, okay. Enough with the lessons for now. I want to share something super exciting with you: On October 22 and 23rd, I get to be part of The BeYOUtiful Virtual Summit along with these amazing speakers. You may recognize Skirt Sports founder and Ironman Champion Nicole DeBoom, Olympian Kara Goucher and Skirt Sports owner Sarah Ratzlaff. And then there's the amazingly talented Erin Weed and Yummy Haidara (who I haven't met yet, but I was so drawn to her energy that I bought some of her facial toner and I love it). This event is all about learning to love ourselves and ohmygoodness, I'm so excited!

Use the code KELSEY20 to get $20 off your registration. Register here. And, I hate putting time pressure on things, but the summit swag is going in the mail tomorrow so register ASAP!

I love you.

Love,
Kelsey

P.S. 50% of us have Emotional Authority. That means that half of the humans on this planet will be at their best when they really truly fully embrace the permission to take their time. Stay tuned for more about Emotional Authority. I'll be recording an Emotional Authority Masterclass as soon as I return to optimal health.

P.P.S. In case you've missed it... In last week's episode of The Find Your Awesome Podcast, Amy White declares that we're in Reclamation October in her October energy update. And, as I write this I'm realizing that both of the lessons above are about reclaiming my sovereignty and intuition. Before that, I released an episode that Ariana Joy and I recorded on her podcast. We talk all about my MG path, getting into your body, letting go of the "not-this" before you know what the "this" is and our mutual disdain for okra. And today, we released a conversation about perfectionism with Audrey Holst. Audrey walks us through the 5 archetypes of perfectionism. I learned so much in this conversation.
