Perfectionism with Audrey Holst
“Perfectionism is a survival mechanism.”
-Audrey Holst
Audrey Holst is a recovering perfectionist who guides ambitious high performers and high achievers to stop micromanaging their lives with perfectionism so they can actually start living. In today’s episode, Audrey teaches us all about perfectionism. We talk about the origins of perfectionism and how it may have helped us in our past but is keeping us from experiencing peace in the present. After having in-depth conversations with real humans who identify as perfectionists or recovering perfectionists, Audrey identified five archetypes of perfectionists. She guides us through each one. Perhaps you will see yourself or someone you love in one of these archetypes. And, if you don’t identify as a perfectionist at all, perhaps this conversation will open you up to giving more love and grace to those around you.
“It’s difficult to build really connective and intimate relationships with other people when you are always trying to put up a very specific facade of who you are in the world.”
- Audrey Holst
“[Perfectionism] got you where you are, but it’s not going to get you where you want to go.”
- Audrey Holst
