The Little Quits Count
In designing my soul blueprint, my soul decided that I would be at my best when I am deeply present and focused on the task at hand. (Yes, I was diagnosed with ADHD in college. Yes, the universe is sassy AF.)
So, while I was creating 4 WEEKS TO QUIT THE STUFF THAT ISN'T SERVING YOU, I explored things I wanted to quit. I looked for places where I was sabotaging my ability to be all-in on the present task. I found a place: When I was doing an easy bike workout inside on my trainer, I was often checking email, texting, and responding to Voxes while I was pedaling. I had told myself it was just an easy ride and that the intention was simply to loosen up my legs and promote recovery from an earlier workout.
Yes. AND. I am here to be deeply present with whatever I'm doing. I was phoning it in. What would happen if I quit the distractions and actually showed up for myself?
I started with a trial run: No email. No Voxer. No texting while on the trainer. The only apps I would use would be Spotify (for music) and Zwift (for the actual workout).
Ohhhhh, I realized. So, this is what it feels like to SHOW UP. This is literally what I'm made for.
And so it's official. I only use Spotify and Zwift while I'm riding inside. It feels so good. And yet, I'm still consciously choosing not to let my mind run away. I feel the temptation to respond to a text. I feel the mental pressure of a Vox that I haven't listened to. And I consciously choose to commit to showing up fully for every single ride.
When we talk about quitting, we often think about quitting really big things like a job or a relationship or living in a certain place. But the little quits can be just as game-changing as the Big Quits.
What could you quit to allow yourself to be aligned with your design?
